Weddings at St. James 1868

Welcome to St. James 1868, a wedding venue in Milwaukee, WI! Steeped in local history yet inspired by the elegance of European weddings, this historic 150-year old church property has been thoughtfully renovated into two luxury wedding and event venues.

The larger venue, the ABBEY, is the former sanctuary which maintains original Tiffany stained-glass windows, 15th Century hand-carved monastery panels, original hardwood floors, and antique light fixtures, now updated for a contemporary take on English-designed interiors. Luxury getting ready suites, English inspired outdoor courtyard that seats up to 300 guests!

The second venue, the HYDE, was the former Parish House Gymnasium that features a two-story vaulted loft space with British inspired getting ready suites, expansive windows, 11ft fireplace, velvet pleated curtains, filtered natural light, original hardwood floors and an elevated outdoor terrace. Seats up to 150 guests!

Both venues feature designated luxury suites, outdoor spaces, variety of tables, chairs, and cocktail tables that are all included in the venue rental fee. Each venue features their own interpretation of European elegance, inviting guests to take their vision to new heights. Enjoy the entire event venue for the complete Royal Wedding experience or simply choose the space that best suits your celebration.

What Couples are Saying:

“We had our wedding ceremony here two weeks ago and let me tell you, this venue is BREATHTAKING. My family and friends were blown away by it’s beauty. The best part was that we didn’t have to spend a whole lot of money on decor because the space speaks for itself. The staff was wonderful, very responsive, and accommodating to our every need. No detail was missed. Thank you for making our wedding day something out of a fairytale!” – Khira B

“We had our dream wedding at St. James! I knew from the moment I saw it, I had to get married here. It truly is such a unique and stunning venue, no detail is missed and everywhere you turn is just perfectly designed. The team there is great, everything on our wedding day went off without a hitch, and it was an absolute joy to work with them. Our guests as well were blown away. The only thing I would make note of is what is included in the general venue pricing and what is an add on. For example, you do not get access to the bride and grooms suite until the afternoon without paying for access, certain tables cost more, ect. All was completely fine, just something to be aware of when budgeting! Overall, we loved our experience and are already hoping to have friends and family get married there just so we can go back to this magical space. Thank you St. James!” – Lindsay P

“We specifically used The Hyde part of St. James. You can rent the whole property which includes the Abbey, but we decided against it. We had ~100 guests and didn’t feel cramped in there at all. The property itself is beautiful! We added on the coordinator and worked with Danielle. She was amazing, totally worth it, and the day was perfect. There was a forecast for potential rain, but we made it through the ceremony and cocktail hour without a drop. Would 100% get married here again.” -Molly P
